About Me

  • About Me

    Hi, I’m Josh Cushman — a poet, Bible teacher, and literary coach.
    I believe writing isn’t just about producing content — it’s about becoming someone. It’s a slow, transformative process of tuning your ear to truth, finding your voice, and learning to speak from the soul.

    I created Writform to help Christian writers do just that: to write not just about transformation, but through it.

    Over the years, I’ve served as a Bible teacher and part-time minister, and I’ve steadily grown into the role of a literary coach — helping friends, fellow writers, and aspiring authors metabolize Scripture and craft words that resonate deeply. My background in ministry and biblical study, including a Master’s in Biblical Leadership from Heartland Biblical Seminary, continues to shape how I approach both writing and mentorship. Through Metabolizing God’s Word and other writings, I’ve explored the intersection of poetic imagination, theology, and spiritual formation.

    My literary formation has been shaped by a wide and sometimes surprising communion of voices:
    George MacDonald, T. S. Eliot, C. S. Lewis, and Madeleine L’Engle anchor my love for the imaginative and eternal;
    Eugene Peterson, Malcolm Guite, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge stir my theology toward wonder and integration;
    while authors like Mark Twain, John Stienbeck and Charles Dickens remind me that stories can convict without preaching.

    Each of these voices listed above have written books through which they themselves encountered transformation. That is what gives these books weight and power for the reader. They did not write to simply entertain and communicate a message.They wrote because they themselves were seeking to understand.

    If you’re a Christian writer seeking clarity of voice, cohesion of message, or transformation through your craft, I’d love to walk alongside you.

    Let’s write something true.
